Support
DEFECTED is used underground, on shift, by tunnel crews. If something is not working, email us and describe what you were doing. We answer within one business day.
hello@defected.appGetting an account
DEFECTED is issued per project. Accounts are created by the contractor running the tunnel and approved by their administrator. You cannot sign yourself in to a project you are not working on. If you are on a crew and need access, ask your supervisor, or email us with your project name and company.
Working with no signal
The app is built to run underground with no connection. Everything you record (defects, photos, packer counts, kit logs) is saved on the phone first and sent to the server on its own once you have signal again. You can close the app; nothing is lost.
To see what has and has not been sent, tap the sync indicator at the top of the screen. It lists your work in plain language, oldest first, and tells you why anything is stuck.
Something will not sync
- "Could not reach the server": the app retries on its own. Your work is safe on the phone.
- "Your session expired": sign out and back in. Queued work sends once you do.
- "The server would not accept this": usually your access to the project changed. Contact your project administrator.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app: open Profile, scroll to Account, and choose Delete my account. This removes your login, your name, your email and your company, and removes you from every project.
The defects, kit logs and reports you recorded stay on the project with your name removed from them. They are the client's construction records of what was repaired in their tunnel, kept for the life of the asset. They are not deleted on request, and no one person can remove the quality record of a completed repair.
Your data
DEFECTED shows no advertising and has no third-party tracking. Your work is never sold or used to profile you.
So we can see when a phone is stuck, the app sends us a short health report about every fifteen minutes while it has signal: how many records are waiting to sync, how many are failing, the most recent error message, the app version, an install identifier, and the account and project it is reporting for. Full error details, including stack traces, stay on your device. How quickly pages load and respond is measured by Vercel, our hosting provider.
What is collected and why is set out in the Privacy Policy. For data questions, including access and correction requests, email us.
